The process of passing on culturally relevant knowledge, skills, attitudes and values from person to person or from culture to culture is termed as cultural transmission. (SIL International, 1999) However, this definition only gives a vague description of what cultural transmission is, and what is its nature. And so, it is the intention of this paper to give out more information describing cultural transmission by discussing how socialization and learning affects cultural transmission, specifically between generations. In order to achieve this purpose, the paper will look upon the nature of culture and explore on the subjects of socialization and learning and later on implicate how these three are interrelated.
